A brief update on Maxi

Maxi is still not himself. He still will not eat. He has lost a lot of weight. We bought baby food, turkey and chicken, and some tuna that he usually loves. He refuses all food and growls. The one difference between the weekend and now, is that he actually will sit up and stare out the window. He wants out and to be patrolling his territory.

He is very depressed and I just can't help but be worried.

We may try and force feed him.

I want you all to know that I will try and bring Dr Tweety around to see you this weekend, and over the next several days after. It may take us awhile, but if you stopped here to purr, we will stop there to show our gratitude.

We are not going to forget ANY one of you dear friends.

Tomorrow, I am still going to let the blog we prepared last weekend, before Maxi got sick, go ahead and post. Maybe it will lift all of our spirits.

It's a shame Maxi still doesn't want to eat. Wonder why he won't eat but wants to go outside? We wouldn't let him outside while he's sick. But at least he has something to interest him.

Hang in there.

We are glad to hear that he is on the road to recovery! Maybe he is in pain still? Or just really grumpy because he had some really rough days... we will still purr and hope he'll feel better soon and starts eating.
Maybe he still has a stomach ache...?
Poor thing, we purr and purr!

Maxi, this isn't good. You really must eat something, or you won't get well. If you don't get well, you can't go outside, so you see what you must do. I am keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.

Oh I know what it is like to be sick and not want to eat....poor maxi! Just give him some time...it took me almost five days to begin to eat again when I was so sick that bad autumn in 07.
We will pray and purrr for some better results this weekend...
I ate a little bit more today and slept the rest of the time...one day at a time.

Maybe Maxi is looking to go out because he feels sick and wants to eat some grass.
Dr.Tweety's mum, can you cut a turf for him and bring indoors and see if he shows interest in it?
When Eric was so ill last year and wouldn't eat, sometimes he would chew on some grass and bring it back up, but then he would eat a very small amount of food.Just a suggestion.
Maxi, we hope you really do start to feel better very soon.
Purrrrrrrrrr purrrrrrrrrrrr furrom Eric and Flynn

Many times, the longer a cat goes without eating, the less he wants to eat. This can sometimes lead to fatty liver disease (hepatic lipidosis) ::shivers:: Force feeding can get the system working again and revive the appetite. Just start with a little bit at a time, but give it pretty often. I'm purring my best for Maxi!

We're purrin for Maxi to feel less bummed and eat. I'll come over later and demonstrate eatin. I'm good at demonstratin that. Mom says, "Se he ki" whatefur that means, but she wiggles her fingers in funny circles and smiles when she says it. Must be sekrit code. She's still sendin him Reikis.
Purrrrrrs,

Pee Ess. I'd love to snuggle and eat toona puffs with you Dr. Tweety. Maybe we can save a few of them to demonstrate eating to Maxi. ::smoochiez::

We are all hoping Maxi starts to eat soon - maybe now that he is up and moving around it will help make him hungry. We had a few days were Lola wouldn't eat and we tried everything you did with no response - I know how stressful that can be. I wish I had some suggestions but I would say to try everything you already have. My only other suggestion is to maybe try some kitten milk, because if he is drinking it would at least get him some nutrients, if he is willing to try it (I don't suggest cows milk because it doesn't agree with most cats). We tried it with Lola because we happened to have some - honestly she wasn't interested (she wasn't eating or drinking because she was full of gas - nothing would sit well at the time) but it can't hurt to try. We are all keeping our fingers/paws crossed - I even mentioned it to a couple people and they are sending good thoughts too.

Maxi we're so happy that you're home. After my surgery I wouldn't eat either and my doctor gave Mom a big syringe to suck up Science Diet AD mixed with warm water and put it in my mouth. I ate that way for several days until I was well enough to eat on my own. Ask your doctor about that.

I don't know what it is called but I know my breeder said there is something that none of the cats refuse to eat EVER. Eat Maxi, you'll feel better!! You have to eat.

have you tried any A/D food? i know that when tesla was so sick, they gave me that because kittehs who are sick tend to eat this over other food. It's very tasty to them. We actually force fed her that at one point when she had refused to eat it. Advice for that- when you do it, don't do it late at night if they sleep with you. Tesla threw up ALLLLLL over me in the night.

But she would eat it when she would eat nothing else.

When Praline was sick a few years ago and wouldn't eat, the Vet suggested warming the food in the microwave for a few seconds. He said that as cats get older, their sense of smell isn't as good and heating the food attracts them to it. It worked for Praline! I still heat her canned food for about 7 seconds.
