Well catsez, I had to comez home from da Mini’s & comfort da momee here. When she gots home last night from her day job, she headed out to da gardun to see how da Big Kahuna Chefsez micro greenz waz doin’ since dey iz due on Saturday.

Well da momee started cryin’ like she losted one of us… & da dadee justee shook hiz head & said, “Now you know how reel farmerz feel.” Of coursee da momee didz not receeve dis advice reel well. She cried & cried & cried & den told da dadee dats he should call da Big Kahuna Chef & tellz him da same ting. (Uh-oh. I tink dey waz soundin’ a itty bitty likes me & my brudder when we don’t gets along reel well.)I tink dis callzez fur a emergencee purr ting. Couldz you all passee da wurd? Mebbe it will help & mebbe it wonts, but mebbe it will give da momee da courage to goez on in da face of deze evful bugzez.
Da moral of dis storee? Don’t count your green paperzez before da itty bitty greenzez are deliverd!

Ooh, yucky! Mommy says those look like what her parents called Japanese beetles. She remembers as a child having to pluck them off the plants and dump them in used motor oil. They pinched! Probably not the best way to deal with these things, but that's how they did it in the olden days.

We feel just dreadful for your Mum.
Our Mom is rather unhappy with our garden too, we had nasty things called cutworms visit the tomatoes and bell peppers and then the squash and cucumbers died on the vine. But at least our peas and okra did well and while the watermelon is undersized we will at least have some. And we weren't depending on them for green papers, so we can only imagine how disappointed your Mum is.

oh yuck! We lost our potato plants to potato beetles even though I squished them every day and our tomatoes look spindly and weak. Last year everything was huge and green.

Flea beetles are nasty buggers, I have had those on my hollyhocks before. But never with something I was really counting on.
Sorry for your mom's endeavor - hope that the tiny little monsters go away quick!
Try researching floating row covers for organic prevention for your next crop - this won't help with the current problem since once flea beetles are in, they are devastating.

we're just coming back to give your mommy a tip someone my mommy works with gave her. she said (and she isn't sure it will work for these icky bugs) but there are stinky geranium plants that when planted around gardens are supposed to keep buggies away. she says an organic garden place should have them, and maybe some good tips on how to keep them from coming back.
we are so sorry about this first batch. we just know it will work out. please don't give up on your dream.

Dose are really evil nasty demon bugs. I wouldn't even try eatin' one of dem if I were dere, they look so mean and nasty! My Mom says to tell your Mom she can never grow anything! She had a big green pepper once she was real proud of and the squirrels came and ate it right up.
Hope your Mom doesn't give up, though, because you don't want dose demon bugs to think they've won!
